Alzarri Joseph has broken the record of best bowling figures in the history of IPL on debut. He shattered the 12-year-old record with bowling figures of 6 wickets for 12 runs. The record was earlier held by Sohail Tanvir since IPL 2008.
The 22-year-old Joseph made his debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad replacing Lasith Malinga in the squad. He took the wicket of David Warner on his very first ball of the match. His other victims were Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Siddharth Kaul. He bowled exceptionally well and helped his team defend a low total of 136 runs.
The West Indian fast bowler was replaced by Mumbai Indians in place of Adam Milne who pulled out of the IPL due to a swollen heal.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first and lost the wickets quickly. Kieron Pollard helped Mumbai reach a fighting total of 136.
