ICC Rankings 2020: Australia Wrenched India’s Top Test Rank

ICC Rankings 2020

India has been overthrown by the Aussie Team in the ICC Test rankings on Friday, tumbling to the third position after extracting their stupendous 2016-17 file from the annual replace as per ICC guidelines. India bragged the top rank since October 2016 in Test rankings for the initial phase. However, this year India has dropped to the 3rd spot; Australia and New Zealand jumping to the 1st and 2nd positions.

In the latest rankings, India has 114 rating points, New Zealand 115, and Australia being on the top has 116. Not to disappoint as India still holds the top of ICC World Test Championship table. During last international match with New Zealand, India thrashed the opposition team with 2-0. The assignment was India’s first chief overseas assignment of 2020 before the pandemic hit the world.

ICC mentioned in a press release, “India have yielded the top spot for the first time since October 2016. This is largely because India had won 12 Tests and lost just one Test in 2016-17, the records of which were removed in the latest update.” “They had won all five series during this period including against Australia and England. On the other hand, Australia had lost to South Africa as well as to India in the same period.”
