Rajasthan Royals defeats Sunrisers by 72 Runs

RR wins over SRH

After the Fantastic Friday and Superb Saturday, the fans were hoping for a Sensational Sunday as Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to field first. The match was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, and the home team expected some help from the Wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Butler started the proceedings with a Bang.

The openers gave a hard time to the bowlers out there and scored 85 in just 5.4 overs before Jos got cleaned up by Fazalhaq Farooqi. Bulter scored 54 runs in just 22 deliveries with the help of 7 boundaries and 3 sixes. Then arrived the Skipper, Sanju Samson. Along with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the middle, Sanju kept on the attack before Jaiswal became the second victim of Farooqi. He scored 54 runs with the help of 9 boundaries in 37 balls.

On the other hand, Sanju kept the attack on and reached his fifty in just 28 balls. He punished the bowlers all around the park and smashed 3 boundaries and 4 sixes. Hetmyer’s  22* in 16 balls helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to reach 203-5.

The Orange Army fans were waiting for a similar kind of batting from the lads, but the top-order failed to deliver terribly. But what happened next shook the entire dug-out and the fans out there. Trent Boult, the former Mumbai Indian pacer, came and delivered in the very first over. Boult first sent Abhishek Sharma with an out-swinging yorker, and then Holder took a blinder at the slip in the same over. A double-wicket maiden over set the vibe out there.

Mayank Agarwal and Harry Brook were trying to build a partnership, but Chahal came and restricted Brook to just 13 in 21 deliveries. The way Rajasthan’s top-3 batsman batted and the way Chahal bowled, it was always a one-sided game. Mayank Agarwal was removed by Chahal on 27 in 23 balls. Abdul Samad and Umran Malik tried their best but only managed to take their team to 131-8 in 20 overs.

The match was well-played and dominated by the Royals as they started their campaign with a 72 runs victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
