CSK open their account with 12 run victory over LSG

CSK defeats LSG

A fantastic crowd gathered at Chepauk to welcome back their favourite team after a four-year absence, and they received what they wanted. Chennai Super Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants in their second match of the Tata IPL 2023.

CSK posted a huge score on the scoreboard on their home ground. They got off to a blazing start, thanks to their openers. Both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were fast to get off their marks and took just one over to get their eye in. The openers played some excellent shots and showed no mercy to some bowling by the LSG bowlers. Gaikwad reached his half-century in just 25 deliveries. He is currently donning the Orange in Cap in IPL 2023. CSK reached the fifty-run mark in the fifth over and 100 runs in the eighth over. After nine overs, Rahul called in Ravi Bishnoi, and the legspinner struck with his first delivery to dismiss the in-form Gaikwad. Conway followed him back to the pavilion in the next over.

Before being duped by Bishnoi, Dube hit three sixes and a four in four deliveries. Moeen Ali hit a hat-trick of fours, but a googly by Bishnoi also took out Moeen Ali. He finished with impressive figures of 3/28. Rayudu played a cameo, and MSD’s two sixes in the final over were enough to make Chepauk’s crowd roar.

Early in the pursuit, Kyle Mayers silenced the Chepauk crowd. He once again put on a remarkable power-hitting show, scoring fifty off just 21 balls to start LSG off strong. But as soon as spin was introduced, the situation changed. Moeen Ali bowled an outstanding spell, and Santner also did an outstanding job. That was just typical CSK behaviour at their stronghold, with Dhoni orchestrating everything. After the first five overs, LSG had a score of 73. But after 14, they were down to 136/5 after Moeen took a wicket in each of his four overs. Deshpande, who overcame a poor start with the ball to execute some excellent plans at the very end, got rid of Nicholas Pooran and put the icing on the cake for CSK.

With this win, CSK earned two points are now sixth on the IPL 2023 Points Table.
