He is set to return to Punjab Kings, as the franchise will be hoping for a great performance from Sam. On the other hand, Ben Stokes and Cameron Green also joined the party after being bought by Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians for INR 16.25 Crores and INR 17.50 Crores, respectively. Injured Players Ahead IPL 2023

IPL 2023 Injured Player Kyle Jamieson

Several key players have already been ruled out of TATA IPL 2023. Almost every affected Franchise is trying and making all the possible efforts to find the best replacement for these players. Below are some of the key players that are going to miss the TATA IPL 2023.

  • Will Jacks – Royal Challengers Bangalore
The English Batsman picked up an injury while touring Bangladesh. New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell has been replaced and added to the squad.
  • Jonny Bairstow – Punjab Kings
Jonny Bairstow was doing exceptionally fine till he was playing Cricket. One of the most impact players in IPL got injured in September 2022 while playing Golf. Yes, Jonny was playing golf when he got injured, and since then, he has not played any competitive cricket. The franchise has decided to replace him with Australian Bloke Matthew Short, who was also named and awarded the Player of the Tournament in the 2022/23 Big Bash League.
  • Rajat Patidar – Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Tournament hasn’t started yet, but RCB is facing some serious blows. Their limelight player of the previous season is now ruled out of the first half of TATA IPL 2023. A heel injury is restricting him from playing, and he will only be available in the second half if the MRI scans turn out to be in his favor.
  • Rishab Pant – Delhi Capitals
Well, everyone knows why Rishab Pant is set to miss the entire edition of TATA IPL 2023. The tragic car crash has put the Skipper out of action well beyond the IPL 2023. Like KKR, DC will miss their regular full-time captain, and to gather the blokes ahead of the season, the franchise has appointed David Warner as their New Caption for this season.
  • Kyle Jamieson – Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings bought Kylie Jamieson for INR 1 Crore in TATA IPL Mini-Auction 2023, and they never thought that their probable key asset would miss this edition because of injuries. Kylie has sustained a stress fracture in the back which will require surgery, causing him to be out of action for the next few months. On the contrary, the franchise has been smart to rope in Sisanda Magala as a replacement for Kylie Jamieson. He is a fast seam-up bowler with equal proficiency in both powerplay and death overs.
  • Jasprit Bumrah – Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians will miss their key bowler and yorker specialist as he continues his long injury lay-off. Hopefully, Jofra Archer will deliver for Mumbai Indians.
  • Jhye Richardson- Mumbai Indians
The Luck is not that favorable to Mumbai this year. With Bumrah missing the entire edition of TATA IPL 2023, Jhye Richardson is also going to miss this season. The fast bowler underwent shoulder surgery back in 2019, and now his fate is costing him this season because Hamstring Surgery will keep him out of the action for a long time.
  • Mukesh Chaudhary – Chennai Super Kings
Another Blow to Chennai Super Kings as their find of the previous season is unclear about this year’s participation. The left-arm pacer impressed every expert and fan out there by taking 16 wickets in IPL 2022. However, the back injury has forced him to undergo treatment at the NCA. There has been no formal announcement, but CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan said: “We are waiting on Mukesh, but at the same time, we do not have much hope”.
  • Mohsin Khan – Lucknow Super Giants
Another Left-Arm Pacer who impressed everyone with his line and length throughout the tournament is set to miss the TATA IPL 2023. Mohsin Khan finished the campaign with the tag of second most economical bowler in the previous season. The same year, he faced an unwelcome situation where he went to undergo surgery to remove blood clots in his left shoulder. Although he has been batting in the nets, it is hard to predict when he will wear his spikes again for Lucknow Super Giants.
  • Shreyas Iyer – Kolkata Knight Riders
The most dependable asset of Kolkata Knight Riders is very much in the middle of nowhere. The skipper has some serious back issues, which can cost him not only the TATA IPL 2023 but the final of WTC as well. In his absence, Nitish Rana is set to lead KKR in the edition.

New Season, New Rules of IPL 2023

New Rules of IPL 2023

The 16th edition of TATA IPL is going to be entirely different and competitive from the previous ones. Some key changes are surely going to add more intensity and opportunities to the game. Given below are the two biggest changes in the history of this tournament that the board has announced.

Impact Player Rule

This rule might turn out to be the game-changer in the TATA IPL 2023 season. The impact player rule has been tried and tested in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and it was originally imported from the Big Bash League. Here, the law says that teams can change their one player in the middle of the game as per the gaming conditions. Some might find this rule a bizarre thing for the game, and some might see this as an upgradation to bring more excitement and match awareness among viewers and players, respectively.

The Impact Player can be Introduced at the following stages of the Game.
– Before the Start of the Innings
– Before the Beginning of the New Over
– When a Wicket Falls
– When a Batsman Retires

No Team Announcement at the Toss

Yes, now the fantasy players have to wait for some more time and make two separate teams keeping the toss factor in mind because that will be done by the captains too. Here, captains have no need to announce their playing XI as they can nullify the toss advantage by crafting their team as per the toss results. They will be required to file 5 substitutes; out of those 5 substitutes, they will be allowed to choose any one player as an impact sub during the game.

DRS Calls

The third and foremost change that will finally be implemented in TATA IPL 2023 is DRS Calls. We have seen teams losing by the barest of margins, and it even hurts more when the umpire gives a bizarre decision. Moving forward in IPL 2023, teams will be given an opportunity to reverse the on-field decision given by the umpire. No, No, No, we are not talking about a Wicket, DRS will now be applicable for No-Balls and Wide Balls. This means captains will have to choose their reviews more wisely than ever before.

Therefore, these are some of the new and magnified rules and regulations that are going to bring more hustle, excitement, and of course, entertainment to TATA IPL 2023. Who would’ve thought at the time of the IPL 2023 Auction that players would have more leverage? But it is finally happening in this year’s edition. Which team are you supporting this year?
